Anambra Joint Security Forces Storm Isseke Criminal Camp, Destroy Bomb Factory and IEDs

In a bold and strategic security operation, the Anambra Joint Security Force—comprising the Police, Military, and Anambra State Vigilante Group—has dismantled a notorious criminal stronghold in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area, on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

During the offensive onslaught, operatives successfully uncovered and destroyed a local bomb factory used by secessionist elements to terrorize parts of the state. In addition, assorted locally made improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered and safely demobilized.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, the criminal camp had remained an impregnable base for over two years, serving as a launchpad for violence and destruction across the region.

“One of the IEDs buried around the camp exploded during the operation and caused damage to the road infrastructure, designed to prevent our men from advancing. Thankfully, no casualties were recorded,” Ikenga said.

He emphasized that the offensive marks a major victory in reclaiming territories held by criminal elements and restoring lasting peace in the area.

The Joint Forces have pledged to maintain security dominance and continue clearing operations in the region to dismantle any remaining threats.
