Court Update: Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Case Continues Amidst Tight Security and Limited Access

 Abuja, Nigeria – May 21, 2025

Court proceedings for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, resumed today, May 21st, at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Reports confirm that the hearing began as early as 9:00 AM, but only a limited number of people were granted access to the courtroom.

As of this report, detailed information about what has happened inside the courtroom is still scarce. The atmosphere around the court premises is heavily guarded, with tight security and media access being restricted. Several supporters and observers were seen outside the court, waiting anxiously for updates.

A few legal representatives and family members who were allowed inside have remained quiet, adding to the tension and speculation surrounding the case.

“We just want to know what’s happening inside. We are peaceful, we just need transparency,” said a supporter standing outside the court gates.

Some eyewitnesses described the scene as calm but tense, with security personnel carefully screening everyone who came close to the premises. There have also been unconfirmed reports that some journalists were denied entry.

As of now, no official statement has been released by either Kanu’s legal team or government officials. It is unclear whether today’s session will produce a major development in the long-standing legal battle.
