Outrage as Southeast Gets Zero Allocation While One Zone Gets N66B – Senator Ngwu Blasts FG Over Neglect

Senator Osita Ngwu has sparked nationwide debate following a bold statement condemning the federal government’s continued marginalization of the Southeast region. In a video shared by TV Platinum, the Enugu-born senator voiced his outrage over the region’s exclusion from critical infrastructure funding, citing the Ivo Dam project as a painful example of neglect.

“The Southeast cannot continually be treated the way Nigeria is treating the Southeast,” Ngwu declared, lamenting that Ivo Dam, last funded over two decades ago with N5 billion, has been completely abandoned for the past 12 years.

Ngwu revealed that despite multiple efforts to revive the dam— including three formal appeals to the Ministry of Water Resources—there has been “no meaningful action.”

His most striking allegation centered on the 2024 federal budget, where a single zone reportedly received N66 billion, while the entire Southeast was allocated zero.

“What kind of omission is that?” Ngwu questioned. “We have done everything possible to see if they can bring up Ivo Dam. But nothing. Absolutely nothing.”

The senator’s remarks have fueled fresh conversations on equity, federalism, and the future of regional development in Nigeria. Public outcry continues to mount, with many demanding accountability and urgent redress from the federal government.
