A gas cylinder explosion at a plumbing market along Uga Street, Onitsha, Anambra State, has left one person dead and six others injured.
The state police command in a statement on Saturday confirmed that the incident occurred on Friday 16 May 2025 while a welder was working on a piece of metal.

The cylinder reportedly exploded due to exposure to excessive heat, causing panic and severe injuries to nearby individuals.
Police operatives from the Onitsha Head Bridge Divisional Headquarters, who arrived at the scene, joined hands with good-spirited individuals to rescue six victims.
The injured were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, while the deceased was deposited in a morgue.
