Trump orders US embassies to stop student visa interviews

President Donald Trump’s government has made a new rule that stops all U.S. embassies from setting up interviews for student visas. This means students from other countries who want to study in America will not be able to go for interviews right now.

The reason for this change is that the U.S. wants to look more closely at the social media accounts of these students. They want to see what students post online before deciding if they should be allowed to come into the country.

Some people are not happy with this rule. A U.S. lawmaker, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, said the decision is “reckless” and could hurt America’s economy. Some top schools, like Harvard University, also said the rule might stop smart students from coming to study.
