Türkiye Hosts High-Stakes Peace Talks in Istanbul to End Russia-Ukraine War

On May 16, 2025, Türkiye hosted two significant trilateral meetings in Istanbul’s historic Dolmabahce Palace, aiming to mediate peace in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The first meeting brought together delegations from Türkiye, the United States, and Ukraine, while the second included representatives from Türkiye, Russia, and Ukraine.





Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan led the discussions, with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio heading the American delegation. Ukraine was represented by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya, Security Service Deputy Head Oleksandr Poklad, and Deputy Chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service Oleh Luhovskyi. The Russian delegation was led by Presidential Adviser Vladimir Medinsky, along with Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, General Staff Intelligence Director Igor Kostyukov, and Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandr Fomin.


These meetings mark a renewed diplomatic effort by Türkiye to facilitate dialogue and seek a resolution to the war that has significantly impacted regional and global stability. The involvement of high-level officials from all parties underscores the seriousness of the talks and the hope for meaningful progress.
