DSTV Slash Decoder Price by 50% to Win Back Customers

DSTV is trending because they have reduced their decoder price to ₦10k from ₦20k to somehow curb the declining subscription and attract customers.

Meanwhile, in Ghana they temporarily reduced subscription fees by 33% after Ghanaians gave them 30days to revert or be boycotted.

Understandably, Nigerians are telling them that the problem is not the decoder price. But the Monthly subscription fee, which they increased three times between 2023 and 2024 and have already increased once this 2025.

They reportedly lost about 1.8M subscribers in 2024. And now estimated at 2.4M. As users are switching to streaming alternatives.

Back in February, Ugandans unanimously boycotted DSTV and GoTV after they increased package price twice in h1 of 2024. And went for streaming platforms.

Seeing the successful snub and drop in patronage, Multichoice now petitioned the Federal Government of Uganda.

Asking them to block the importation of digital streaming products. Because it is negatively affecting their sales in Uganda.

Ugandans insisted, no going back. Until DStV improves their services, or they leave the country.
