Five Persons Killed As Bomb Blast In Imo State

‎According to a report by Naijausers , a devastating bomb explosion rocked a community in Imo State, Nigeria, on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, leaving at least five people feared dead and several others injured, according to local authorities and eyewitness accounts. 


‎The incident, which occurred in a busy area, has heightened concerns about security in the region, already grappling with sporadic violence.

‎The blast, suspected to be caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), took place around midday, sending shockwaves through the vicinity.

‎Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as residents fled in panic, with thick smoke billowing from the explosion site. “It was terrifying. The ground shook, and people were screaming,” said Chidi Okoro, a local trader who narrowly escaped the blast. “I saw bodies on the ground, and many were badly injured 

‎Emergency responders, including police and medical personnel, were swiftly deployed to the scene to evacuate victims and secure the area. Hospitals in the region are reportedly overwhelmed with casualties, some of whom sustained life-threatening injuries. “We are doing everything possible to save lives,” a medical official at a nearby hospital stated, requesting anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation.

‎The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incident but said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause and perpetrators of the explosion. “We urge the public to remain calm and vigilant as we work to unravel the circumstances behind this tragic event,” said the police spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, in a statement. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of this report.
