Tension is brewing in Ngor Okpala, Imo State, as a coalition of local youth groups has publicly accused popular cleric, Prophet Ebuka Obi, of forcefully acquiring community land under questionable circumstances.
The youth, under the aegis of the Ngor Okpala Youth claim that the land in question—originally designated for agricultural development and community projects—was allegedly taken over by representatives linked to the prophet without proper consultation or due process.
“We are not against development or investment, but what we will not tolerate is the seizure of our ancestral land through intimidation and backdoor dealings,” said Mr Governor Eziokwu, a spokesperson for the group.
As the controversy escalates, community elders have called for calm while urging the state government to intervene and investigate the matter. Prophet Ebuka Obi and his ministry have yet to release an official statement.
