Wouri Prefect Bans Motorcycle Taxis on Key Douala Routes Ahead of Maurice Kamto’s Return

The Prefect of Wouri Division, Mr. Sylvac Marie Mvogo, has issued an order prohibiting motorcycle-taxi traffic on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June 2025 along several routes in the city of Douala.

The measure comes just days after the announcement that Maurice Kamto who is  the main opposition to the current president announced that he will return to Douala on 8 June following his Paris rally.

Affected routes:

École Publique Deido – Camtel Bépanda

Bonabassem Bridge – École Publique Deido

Bonabassem Bridge – Bépanda Highway – Bépanda Entrance

MRS Omnisport – Camtel Bépanda

MRS Omnisport – 2nd stadium entrance (before Tontana Hotel)

Coaf Alley – New Deido Market – Quiferou Grand Moulin

Marché des Fleurs – NIKI Airport (both directions)

Douala Grand Mall – Bocom station and Grand Mall – Airport

Motorcycle taxis are barred from operating on these axes throughout the specified dates.
